Well, there's good news, and there's not so good news
On the good side, I signed up for medical/dental insurance at work, and it was much cheaper than I thought, so I'm a happy camper. Plus, it looks like I'm going to get a part-time job at Walgreen's, so that should cover the extra expense nicely plus chuck a bit into savings.
On
the not so good side, the doctor said that Lyndon has shingles, which is essentially
a return of the chicken pox virus. He has some antiviral medication plus a scrip
for painkillers, because this hurts like a bitch when the virus attacks the
nerve root cells. The doc said we caught it really early, however, which should
make getting through it slightly easier and head off some nasty aftereffects.
We'll just have to wait and see.
Poor baby. Stupid stress. Of course, the ironic thing is, we were both really hoping to skip getting the insurance this month and catch up with all the bills, but Fate needs a laugh as much as the rest of us, it seems. And realistically, even if this hadn't happend it's stupid to drive around Dallas without health insurance -- they don't call 635 "The Death Trap" for nothing.
At least there are gleams of silver in the clouds -- I just found out from one of my clients that they're finally finished with the beta of their app, so I can start writing the help pages and user manual for it, and I still need to do the essay for that critical antho. Between the dosh for that, my regular web client and Walgreen's, we'll make out okay.
Where there's life,
there's hope, right?
