Back to work
Oh, well -- it had to happen sometime.
At least we got to see ROTK again last night (as fabulous as when I first watched it, and this time I could concentrate on details -- woohoo!). The 5:30 showing was completely sold out, so we hung out and waited for the 7:00 PM showing ("I didn't think it was going to be this busy -- New Year's tends to be fairly quiet in England," Lyndon said, looking around in dismay at the completely full parking lot before we managed to rack the car in Ulan Bator).
This time we stayed to see the illustrations in the credits -- my dearest hope is that someone publishes a book with the production drawings, illustrations, etc. because I WANT some of those framed and on my wall. My second dearest wish is that someone publishes a movie diary like Richard E. Grant's -- Ian McKellan, maybe (he already has regular reports on his website). After seeing Elijah Wood on Leno last night and hearing the story about, ahem, "conquering" the fountain, I would REALLY like to hear about the day-to-day adventures (and misadventures) on making the films.
As for today, it's been extremely quiet. I figure most people aren't really going to get back into the swing of things until Monday or so, which is just fine with me.
On the writing side of things, I'm 600 words into a funny dark fantasy piece called "Hell's Kitchen" about a popular British TV chef who winds up in Hell as Satan's personal cook. But I can't HANG it on anythng -- I'm trying to find an actual story for the setup, and absolutely nothing is coming to me. I hate it when this happens.
Forward to the
weekend!
