It's GOOD to feel creative again
Well, it's sunny, I didn't have nearly enough sleep last night due to the fact that my brain hates me (and I think I need to flip the mattress tonight), so of course my Muse picks now to return from her extended sojourn in Bali, kicking off the festivities with an extended dream this morning that contained pretty much everyone in my life.
The amazing thing was, they all got along -- how astounding.
However,
she's still musing (hee) over a problem I'm having with PHARAOH, so she suggested
that I pull up ARIANNE and write about Queen Danae's training as a water mage
adept (she was pulled out of training when her father died, so she never made
it to full mage), and her ambivalence about her upcoming marriage to Loren.
It doesn't help that her twin brother Darius keeps prattling on about all the
fun he's going to have at the wedding/coronation (he's a lovely guy, but everyone
agrees that it's best Danae was born first, because Darius couldn't be a king
if you put a crown on and a crossbow to his head) -- it's just reminding Danae
that up to now her life has pretty much been one of constant duty, and just
once she'd like to go off and have an adventure of her own.
Her wish is about to be granted. Well, it will be granted as soon as I can get back to the story, which will be the moment I hand off the first draft of the contract job (hopefully sometime this weekend -- it's dreadfully late as it is). Still, it's good to muse over the plot in my free moments -- that counts as writing, too, you know.
Oh, and I even had the apartment to myself this evening, which was kinda weird but nice -- Lyndon went out with his TBS buddies for beer and bitching about the job market. It's also a chance to network, and who knows, something might even come of it.
In the meantime
he's relaxed and happy, I'm actually halfway finished with folding the laundry
(which has been piling up on our dressers in a veritable polycotton Himalaya
for the last couple of days -- makes finding something to wear in the morning
a real challenge, I can tell you), and tomorrow's payday. All in all, life's
pretty good.
