Auntie Em, Auntie Em!
Whoo,
doggies, but it's a mite breezy in Dallas today -- my umbrella turned inside
out on the brief walk from the parking garage to the building, I had to lean
into the wind a couple of times, and I'm sitting here in my cardigan still trying
to warm up from that brief exposure to the elements. I
was going to get my oil changed during lunch, but. . .no. Just no.
Apparently there's also some talk of snow or ice around the end of the week -- I really hope this doesn't happen, because I hate being trapped in the apartment until everything defrosts (hell, no, I don't go out if it's icy -- T-DOT has no idea of how to handle ice, and last year's ice storm resulted in beaucoup accidents as a result. One word -- SALT. But nobody listens to this damn Yankee, so screw it).
But at least we're not getting the mounds of snow that the Northeast has been enjoying, so I'm grateful for small favors. Still, I wouldn't mind curling up somewhere and just hibernating until April or so.
Sick Kitty
Another reason to hibernate -- earlier today I got the following email from Lyndon:
"We have a sick kitty. JJ started barfing this morning, emptied his stomach in the food bowl and had been hacking up every hour since then. At the moment he's throwing up a clear thick substance and I can't tell if it's bile or mucus."
Apparently JJ was drinking water, but hacked again while Lyndon was on the phone with me. JJ occasionally regurgitates food (it's sausage-shaped, which is apparently normal for cats), but it sounds like he may have another kitty cold or some kind of allergy this time. Poor sweetie.
LATER: Got home, and he hasn't thrown up all evening, AND has eaten his share of the cat food, so apparently this was just a one-time thing. We're going to keep an eye on him for the next couple of days, though, just to make sure--
--aaaaaand
Jordan just sneezed on me. Yep, this is some sort of kitty cold. Fabulous.
Eeeeeeeeeee! Sale!
Windy weather and kitty colds aside, today has had one big perk. I got home and found my acceptance letter from THE ANTHOLOGY FROM HELL: HUMOROUS STORIES FROM WAY DOWN UNDER for my short story "A Hell of a Note" -- yay!
Now THIS is a way
to kick off a month, people!
