Janet's Boobie, and Other Flaps

My GOODNESS, the fluster being raised over Janet (well, Justin, to be accurate) flashing a boobie during the Super Bowl halftime. You'd think she turned out to be Osama Bin Laden in drag or summat.

First off -- oh, of course it was planned. The outfit looks like a Skin Two special, and the bra cups are snapped on, so removal is fairly easy. As for the "but the red lace bra was supposed to stay on" line, take a good look at the cup in Timberlake's hand (I've bumped up the contrast for a clearer view) -- the red ruffled trim is just that, a TRIM. There's about an inch of it running along the top of the cup -- no shreds of red lace fabric there anywhere.

Also, if she wasn't planning on flashing the football-watching public, why wear a big-ass ol' nipple "ornament" that serves nicely as a pastie (and could possible help them skirt around some obscenity rules)? That can't have been all that comfortable for dancing - if she wanted to keep her piercing open, a plain old nipple ring would have done nicely. So yeah, I think it was deliberate.

Secondly (and this may shock some people), I'm all for the FCC fining the parties involved. They knew what the rules were, they broke them anyway, and it's not like they don't have the money for the fines. I'm not offended at the sight of a human breast, but it's the Super Bowl, not a gentlemen's club -- call it a "Don't Be Tacky" fine.

However, I do think increasing the fine tenfold is just a tad ridiculous, and Michael Powell needs to rachet his outrage down a couple of notches. It's not like she ripped off her g-string and took a dump on stage -- it's just a boob. Fine them, by all means, but don't act like they performed a human sacrifice.

Thirdly -- well, at least it seems that Janet is all natural, which is kinda nice in an increasingly plastic age.

In other news, I actually feel semi-sorta awake today, mainly because I staggered home last night, swallowed three Melatonin and went straight to bed. Woke up at midnight because my brain hates me, but was able to get back to sleep before 2:00 AM, so I've had a fairly decent amount of sleep. Stupid insomnia. Stupid stress. Bah.

So how was your Monday?
