Decisions, Decisions
Remember how I said that I was going to use a green dress as the basis of my SPD dance costume?
Well,
I got to looking at it, and decided that I didn't really want to ruin it by
adding coins and stuff, so I started rooting around in my closet again. Found
an old sleeveless dress in peacock blue with big green fern fronds all over
that, and tried it on with the green choli and pants. Looked great, so I decided
to use that instead, and went out to get all the necessary beads, sequins and
ribbons to make it beautiful
Unfortunately, by the time I got home I remember why I'd bought it in the first place (because I loved the fabric) and why I never wore it (because it was slightly too small and I didn't like the neckline). Well, it fits me just fine, now, and I realized yesterday how I could fix the neckline and make it more modern-looking. Which is great for my wardrobe, but sucks for my costume.
I already had a green choli and harem pants -- what I needed was something that coordinated with emerald green, would cover my midsection and ideally would also serve as a skirt. I spent the entire afternoon hitting store after store, looking for something that was relatively cheap and could be sacrificed for the costume. And finally, when I thought I would have to give up and try Ross Dress for Less on Sunday, I finally found a slinky beige sheath dress covered with gold glitter at Fashion Bug that was seriously discounted from $50 to $15 -- if I slit the sides, chopped down the neckline and added some beads and other decorations, it would do rather nicely as a coverup.
I bought it, brought it home, and immediately realized that I hadn't been increasingly irritated by my fruitless shopping, I'd been irritated by an oncoming migraine. Great -- spring is back, and so is the big head pain. Arrgh.
So instead of spending the evening sewing, then going out to a movie, I spent it sprawled on the couch waiting for my head to stop throbbing, scarfing Blue Bell pralines and cream ice cream (hey, I needed the sugar, okay?) and watching a thoroughly bad yet immensely entertaining B-movie called BLOOD DOLLS on the Sci Fi channel with Lyndon.
Sometimes, you
just need some down time with a good bad B movie.
