Babies!

YAY! Let's all give a warm welcome to Meredith Drake Turner, born this morning at 5:55 AM (after about 3 hours, fifteen minutes of work by Jeff's wife Kerry -- talk about lightning labor).

Go, see pictures! Cute baby! And Jeff said that he'd like the de rigeur baby quilt to be done in shades of green AND her name means happy dragon, so my creative side just got kicked into high gear.

Not that it already wasn't -- due to sleep deprivation addling me even more than usual (why oh why did my subconscious keep me up until 4:00 AM this morning? What did I ever do to it that deserves this kind of punishment?), not only did I volunteer to do a solo next week in dance class, but I also signed up for the St. Patrick's Day parade. Well, if I want to head into Advanced II these are the things that have to be done.

Mind you, I don't mind doing a solo at all (plase, you people should KNOW me by now -- point me towards a stage and an appreciative audience and you'll have a very happy and entertaining Mellie on your hands), but choreographing it is going to take time and concentration.

Or I could just wing it.

*pause*

Nah.

And while we're talking about creativity, I must also admit that the growing spirit has struck me -- namely, I'm musing over setting up some strawberry pots on the balcony and growing strawberries throughout the spring. Since Lyndon is a strawberry fanatic and doesn't usually like storebought ones because they're very woody, he's extremely in favor of this concept. Can't honestly say that I'd object to them myself.

Now I just have to do some research and figure out how to rig up a shade for them -- Texas afternoon sunlight is NOT a friend to the strawberry plant.
