Name's Melanie Fletcher -- DAMN glad to meet you!

It's amazing, the difference eight solid hours of sleep can make on your worldview. Earplugs and Nyquil, they are my friends! I even cuddled the fabulous furbags and checked my mail before leaping like Pavlova into my clothes, dropping off a VISA payment and the rent check, and proceeding into my most beloved job, where I am surrounded by marvelous, hardworking colleagues who joke with me and throw tissues over the cubicle wall when I sneeze loud enough to wake the dead. Bless their little hearts (the colleagues, not the dead. Although the dead probably need it more).

And while I'm bopping around like a rabbit on speed, allow me to remind y'all that "Female of the Species" went up on Quantum Muse today, so I expect you all to run out and read it as soon as humanly possible, then tip handsomely via your PayPal accounts. Or not, as the case may be -- you may not have a PayPal account, or you may not have enough spare cash to tip, or you may think the story is a steaming pile of shite. In which case, read it and leave comments on the Feedback board -- egoboo makes me just as happy as cold, hard cash.

I know -- I'm such an attention slut. But I've been feeling pretty damned bummed for the last couple of days due to the war and this unending post-nasal drip, so I'm going to grab this cheerfully manic mood and hold on with both hands for as long as it lasts. Hopefully through the rest of the evening, as we have a FutureClassics meeting at my house tonight (Lyndon offered to clean the place so that I wouldn't have to rush around and do it when I got home! Yay for sweet househusbands who know how to use a vacuum cleaner and aren't afraid to admit it!).

Okay, I'll shut up now. But I really do feel good.

And now, for some instantaneous gratification

Wow -- I've already gotten my first comment on the story! Anna M. writes:

This would make an excellent opening for a novel. Well done. Rana is extremely interested. Hey, you know TOR is looking for sci fi with romance?

NONONONONO! I have two others to finish first! AIE!
