There goes
the neighborhood -- quite literally in some places
You may have
heard on the Weather Channel (if you don't live in Texas) or noticed
out your window (if you ARE in the Lone Star State) that we're getting
a bit of rain.
Yes, that's
an understatement. As the afternoon went on the rain just started
getting heavier and heavier. We kept going to the window to check
out the nearby canals, as the water level got closer and closer
to the top (we decided to name the new lake in the middle of a local
field after our company). Driving home was more like navigating
a high-speed sub in a swarm of other high-speed subs -- there were
moments where all I saw in front of me was grey water, it got that
heavy. Oh, and did I mention the white water in the canals going
under the highway? Yeah, that was special.
By the time
I actually got home and checked the weather reports on the TV, there
were flood watches posted for at least six counties, including ours,
and reports that we were about to get hammered with a thunderstorm.
Needless to say, I decided to give FutureClassics a pass and stay
inside where it was dry.
And the lightning
strikes are starting to get really freaking close, so I'm uploading
this and turning off the computer and DSL hub. Talk at you later,
taters -- if we haven't washed away in the meantime.
