It's supposed to snow in Dallas this weekend -- do I HAVE to go back?

Of course, it's overcast and moderately chilly here, too, so I suppose there's not that much of a trade-off. Besides, at least I'd have a car in Dallas. God, I hope Texans approves my credit card application -- I promise I'll be a good girl and only use it to pay my TollTag and website monthly charges, as long as I can also use it to rent a fukaktah car when I'm on a business trip.

I suppose I shouldn't complain, though -- the office is only a fifteen minute walk from my hotel (and it's a pleasant fifteen minutes at that), the guys in the office took me out to lunch at a local mall where I had a moderately good pad thai and listened to them debate their favorite extreme sports, and if I did have a car I'd just go out to a mall and spend money, which is something I really should avoid if I want to make my savings account bloom and grow.

After work, Janis was kind enough to come pick me up again and take me out for dinner at Aesop's Tables, this faboo little Greek place down the street from her apartment complex, where we proceeded to stuff ourselves on taramsalata, hummous, tabouleh and pita slices. And that was before we actually had dinner. I need to start lifting weights again the moment I touch down in Dallas -- I can feel my ass expanding by the millisecond.

Afterwards, we hit an Albertson's and picked up a bottle of DeKuyper's Watermelon Pucker schnapps and a six-pack of ginger ale as a mixer. Talk about flashbacks to college (although in those days my drink of choice was apricot brandy -- gah). We then settled into my last night in my delightful suite, poured ourself some drinks and Janis proceeded to teach me how to spin silk on a drop spindle.

No, seriously, she did. Janis is a fiber arts goddess (proof of that is here), and one of her most recent skillsets is spinning her own yarn, which is pretty damn cool if you think about it. Now I have something else to add to the ever-increasing list of Things I Want To Learn In My Copious Free Time.
