I'm really
not cut out to be a trainer. Really.
Earlier this
week, I was asked by a couple of the engineers to give them a refresher
course in one of the tools I just finished documenting. I figured
great, a chance to brush up on my training skills, and booked a
conference room for the seminar.
Two hours yesterday,
an hour today, and I feel like curling up into a small ball. Oy.
I am not a teacher -- I stumble over my words, I don't explain
things well verbally, and if I had a nickle for all of the uncomprehending
glances I had today, I could probably pay my tax bite and have enough
left over for a coined scarf. I think they walked away with a better
understanding of the tool, but if they did it was due to their perseverance
and not my skill in the teaching arts.
And this is
what the Commercial Company wants me to do. Oh, the months ahead
are going to be such fun. . .
