One of these days I'm gonna finish something, honest

We had FutureClassics tonight, and once again I failed to finish anything in time to submit it for critique. However, I am a good chunk of the way through my "she's a hard drinking bard with a penchant for loud colors, he's a bard who can annoy from 200 meters away -- they fight crime!" story (otherwise known as "A Murder of Crowes," with such deathless lines as, "Could you please turn down your harp -- the vibrato's coming straight through the wall"), and I'd really like to have that ready for the next meeting (pleasepleaseplease).

However, we still got a lot done -- we went over Jeff's novella and two short-shorts of Derek's (which makes me think of hot pants -- sorry, old Nair commerical breaking through to the surface), and Jeff invited us all to a Turkey City-like workshop later this month, which is cool. All the boys talking about their completed or soon-to-be completed novels also built a fair-to-middling fire under my butt, so I'm going to get cracking on POP again, and then see if I can revamp WKQA and get that mother finished before year's end.

While I'm discussing the writing front, I've gotten bounces from three mags on "I Play Dead," "Happily Ever After" and "Bartok and the Unicorn," so I've started sending them to the semi-pro markets. At this point, I don't even care that much about making a pro-level sale -- I'd just like to make a sale, if only to prove that I can still do it. Now I just have to finish the novels, "A Murder of Crowes," "The True Confessions of the Queen of Hearts," my alien anthropologist story, and maybe I could start working on my backlog of stuff.
