Ohhhhhhhhh
yeah. . .
What
a lovely day. Of course, the fact that I spent half of it in bed
probably has something to do with my total satisfaction. Well, hey,
I've been working on short sleep rations and busy weekends for the
last three weeks -- I needed a brainless day.
And
today certainly fit the bill. Woke up at 9:00 am, considered going
to the Blue Mesa on
an information-gathering mission (let it never be said that I don't
go the distance for my friends), decided screw it (let it also never
be said that I'll pass up a chance to sleep when it comes my way
and wants to be friendly) and snoozed until 1:00 pm. After that,
the afternoon was spent puttering about the place, practicing with
Dave (my fingers are starting to go in that weird position a little
more easily now -- at least it doesn't feel like I'm on the verge
of disjointing my hand anymore), doing a bit of organizing in the
offices and shifting boxes back and forth, interspersed with long
lovely periods on the couch with my legs up and a good book in my
lap.
Now
that's the way to spend a Sunday. However, since I did feel a bit
guilty about spending the entire afternoon inside, I put my shoes
on and went for a nice healthy walk around Stonebriar Mall.
Um.
Okay, so it wasn't all that healthy. It was fun, though,
and I came home with the first three studio albums from the Dave
Matthews Band (did I mention that I bought tickets for the Dallas
concert in July? Of course, there's the little problem that I did
this through the Ticketmaster website, which doesn't offer separate
billing and shipping addresses. Since, no duh, my Swedish billing
address doesn't match my American shipping address, I'll probably
have to call Ticketmaster and get everything sorted before they'll
actually approve the ticket purchase), which just leaves another
four before I complete my collection.
Is
this how Deadheads get started? Yes, fine, I'm I know I'm obsessed
-- but this is good shit, man! Screw Blur -- they should've played
DMB as the first Earth music on Mars. Hell, I hope some right-thinking
tech at SETI is beaming "Everyday" towards Vega as we
speak.
All right, I'll
shut up now.
Oh,
and I bought the video short "George Lucas in Love" and
a Classic Trek Scotty doll for Lyndon's office (a little something
that he can stand next to the computer-graphically enhanced picture
of Simon and him in Star Trek uniforms behind Kirk, Spock and Bones.
This actually is a fabulous picture -- they really look like they're
there, although Lyndon moaned, "Oh, my God -- I look like Scotty!"
when he first saw it).
Of
course, now that I found out Mattel is bringing out a line of Greek
Mythology Barbies and has Faerie Queen and Spirit of the Air Barbie,
Scotty won't be alone for very long. Yes, I'm a big kid -- and your
point is?
