Yet Another
Brunch
Yep,
we went back to the Blue
Mesa Grill this morning. After telling Julia about last
week's brunch with Stacy, we decided that she had to sample
the Southwestern wares herself.
And
once again it was totally delicious. Better yet, we were
two Starfleet Ladies dining together. And as it says in Rule 6 of
the Starfleet Ladies' Auxiliary and Embroidery/Baking Society's
Rules of Etiquette, "Yea, and when two or more of you are gathered
together in an eating establishment, shall you flirt shamelessly
with the waiter, even to the point of checking out his ass."
Which
we did, in spades (oh, stop laughing, Julia!), and which he seemed
to appreciate, as he kept encouraging us to go back to the buffet
and help ourselves (when we protested that we wanted to leave something
for the other customers, he snorted and said, "Oh, I don't
care about them, I'm here to take care of y'all!"), and seemed
more than eager to go when we announced that we were going to take
him home with us. Naturally, we felt he had earned a very nice tip,
as well as a shamelessly flirtatious last glance.
I'm
so bad, I know. But damn, this is fun. Afterwards we paid a visit
to Mars, a music store/recording studio that is completely awesome.
This particular visit netted me a new strap, a Headjammer headphone
amp so that I won't be scaring the neighbors with my faltering licks,
a guitar cord, and two videos (Ultimate Beginner series for Rock
Guitar, Step One and Women of Modern Rock Volume 1 -- Come to my
Window, Building a Mystery, One of Us and Where Have All the Cowboys
Gone). Needless to say, I is a happy camper, especially since the
headphone amp has edge, distortion, delay and chorus, presence,
gain and volume control, and works off a 9-volt battery. I've already
run through my tablature for "Mr. Jones" and "Round Here" from Counting
Crows, and while I have to listen to the song to learn the actual
rhythm, I must say that I don't sound half bad.
And
to round out the day (and to celebrate the fact that I finally got
my computer peripherals up and running), I printed out "Tides,"
"Bartok and the Unicorn" and "Happily Ever After"
and have them enveloped and ready for mailing to Reality's Edge,
Cemetery Dance and Asimov's tomorrow. Come hell or high water, I'm
maing Active in SFWA this year if I have to manually pleasure someone
to get the damn sale.
Well,
okay, maybe I won't go quite that far. But it's time to get off
my ass and start behaving like a writer again, and that means getting
the finished stuff into circulation. And now, if you'll excuse me,
I need to catch up on my sleep.
Night,
y'all.
