Taking a
Week Off
This
is to officially notify my fellow WebRat darers that I'm taking
this week off from the dare. There's simply no way I can hork out
2K a day AND get this humongous buttload of household goods unpacked.
Yes,
I know -- if I were a real writer, I would ignore everything until
my wordage was done for the day. However, 1) I cannot work knowing
that all this stuff is waiting for me, and 2) I also have a house
guest coming in ten days, and it might be nice to offer her a place
to sleep other than a racked row of boxes.
Besides,
I want to find my Wedgwood and introduce it to its new siblings.
Of course, then I have to buy a curio cabinet. Whee.
To
be perfectly honest, I know from experience that working all day,
then spending my evenings unpacking and lugging boxes from one room
to another, means I'm going to be too damn tired to do much of anything
other than fall into bed at the end of the day. In my mind, I'm
still a sprightly sixteen-year-old with energy to spare and a body
that can weather any sort of abuse, but the physical reality of
a 34-year-old body with a bad back and bad knees keeps trying to
swamp that, dammit.
So
something has to give. And in this case, much as I hate to do it,
it's going to be the writing. If nothing else, I should be able
to see the living room floor again by the 23rd.
