Monday, London calling. Somebody up there must like me -- I got into work today and found out that the search Prim and Product Structure functions were being put off until the next release, so the only thing I had to do was finish the search Eliza pages, which I had conveniently finished on Friday. There was some tweaking to be done here and there, but I was able to hand them in before I left for London (where I'm writing this -- tiny hotel room as usual, but it's just down the street from Learning Tree and Euston Station so I can't complain). The problem is, I know there are some things I did wrong with the pages, but I won't know WHAT until I get through this week and learn what I was doing wrong in the first place. Nothing like learning on the fly, huh? Okay, London -- marvelous as usual, although I was mildly hacked off to find that I was booked in economy on the plane. Amazing how quickly one grows used to business class -- although I do vaguely remember Lyndon saying something about how all training-related trips are now flown in coach. Ick. But I stopped off to pick up a sandwich and other food items at the airport (it's great -- they have this little food store right outside of the arrival gate -- shop and go straight home!), then caught a cab to the Euston Plaza. It's one of those stately-looking hotels that seem grand as all hell on the outside and have eensy little European hotel rooms on the inside. Oh, well -- at least I got a double. Now if I could only find out some way to block this damn draft from the window. . . |
