NEW YEAR'S EVE
White Stuff
Oh,
shit.
Oh shit oh shit
oh shit.
It snowed. It
snowed BIG time. Well, okay, not BIG time compared to the East Coast,
but there's about 5-6 inches out there. People in the street are
setting off sporadic fireworks, and Lyndon and I are still in our
jammies.
Um. . .somehow
it just doesn't seem worth it to get dressed and straggle through
the snow to the waterfront. We were there last year, which was fun,
admittedly. But this year we don't have Tina or guests here, there's
a whole bunch of good stuff on the telly (the Discovery Channel
has a whole slew of shows on asteroids ramming into the panet and
giving it to the cockroaches), we're stocked up with food and drink,
and it's just pleasant to sit here and know everything is
well with the world.
So I'm going
to continue to sit here in my jammies and slippers, my feet up on
the coffee table and my laptop on my lap, a nice glass of glögg
at my side and the Bodacious Brit sprawled on the couch in all his
masculine glory, and enjoy a lovely Christmas pudding while boozed
up Stockholmers stagger through the streets firing roman candles
at the trees. The big fireworks will start in an hour or so, and
the entire sky will light up with blossoms of fire all over the
city. I'll try to get pictures for y'all from the safety (and warmth)
of my own kitchen window.
For all of you
out there planning to party tonight, however, may you all have a
fast, fun and safe New Year's.
12:00 MIDNIGHT
CET -- It sounds like a howitzer barrage out there, and TCM is showing
2001! What an appropriate way to welcome in the new millenium! I
wonder if they have 2010 programmed after it.
Looks like we're
up for the duration. Time to break out the cheese and crackers.
