Weelah!

Friday Friday Friday (you wouldn't think I was looking forward to the weekend, would you?) -- it's finally here, and now I have the chance to do all the creative stuff I want!

Okay, well, no, that isn't exactly true. This is Week One of the SFF.Net Story Dare, and I need to have my first story finished by Monday. Considering that I'm only around 2,000 words and this is definitely going to be a novelette-length piece, I have to get my butt in gear this weekend.

I dunno -- in retrospect, maybe I shouldn't have started off the dare with "Raising Beauty," since it is such a lyrical piece and requires a lot of time and concentration. Hell, as it is, I know I'm going to be doing a lot of cutting and trimming with it because of the way I've been writing (which is essentially stream-of-consciousness. Nice way of getting words on the page, clunky way of putting a story together). But I really had an itch to work on it, and it seemed like a good way to kick off the dare -- jump straight in at the deep end. It'll be interesting to see how the weekend turns out. . .
