Well, the SFF.Net Story Dare proceeds apace -- everybody is hard at work on their pieces, and I'm about 2,300 words into "Raising Beauty", which is gonna be my first piece out of the gate. Interestingly, I wrote the ending for this one first -- now all I have to do is write the beginning and the middle, and have everything meet up more or less neatly.

With any luck, I'll have eight finished stories done by the middle of November, which means eight pieces to kick out there and get circulating. I really do have to get my butt in gear and work on getting more stuff published -- I've been an Associate Member of SFWA for three years, now, and it would be nice to finally move up to Active membership. That way, I can vote on the Nebulas, help select SFWA officers and just feel like I have a voice in the membership.

Yeah, yeah, I know -- I'm still working on the book. That will get finished, too, I promise.
