Congratulate me -- today is my 6th wedding anniversary. And yes, we're still deliriously in love and disgusting people wherever we go. We didn't really do anything outrageously romantic to celebrate today -- we wanted to hang out with Lisa and play with the kitties -- but apparently there are plans for a carriage ride along Fisherman's Wharf later this week. I've got such a cute husband.

Especially when we made a trip out to a crafts store, and he offered to buy me any dollhouse kit I wanted as my anniversary present. Now, these things are NOT cheap, and they're heavy as well, so shipping back to Sweden would cost a bomb. I perused the available selection, but finally decided to buy a set of instructions for making a Victorian house instead. There is method in my madness -- I now have more than enough power tools to successfully build my own house from scratch, it's a hell of a lot cheaper to stick a booklet in your luggage than some big horking box, and I would control the kind of wood that goes into the house. The big problem with a lot of dollhouse kits is that they're made with thin, cheap presswood. This is fine while you're learning how to build dollhouses or you're planning on staying in the same place for the near future. But we move every two years -- the damage to my little cottage after the last move was bad enough. I can only imagine what disasters would happen with a full-sized dollhouse. Besides which, to be perfectly honest, I've been inspired by all these big, beautiful San Franciscian Victorians. I'm going to pick up a picture book of them before I leave, so that I can use it as reference material for various architectural gewgaws and frilly bits. I'm not sure what the final product is going to look like, but I know it's gonna be gorgeous.
