Monday, Oooooooooerrrgh. Arrr. Blurrgh. Am I in California yet? I must be -- there's a cat sitting on my head. Allow me to explain -- I arrived at San Diego Int'l Airport at about 10:03 pm tonight, after almost sixteen hours of plane flights from Stockholm to New York and New York to Phoenix/San Diego, with three hours worth of layovers in New York and Phoenix. Oy. I think I saw part of ENTRAPMENT on the flight from New York to Phoenix, I don't remember. After landing in the beautiful city of San Diego (even from the air and at night, it took my breath away, and the lovely sea scent in the air as soon as I left the airport was stunning), I caught a cab to Janis's, my friend in San Diego and a stunning webmistress in her own right, and was greeted with, "Mel! You must be exhausted!" To which I agreed heartily, so she pulled out her futon and let me lie down for the first time in about 24 hours. Blessed woman. As soon as I was comfortably ensconced, she introduced to me to her cat Cin (her other cat Jewel knows me from the visit in 1995, and immediately started looking around for Lyndon, her boxing partner). Of course, once I was lying down and comfortable I was more alert, so we stayed up (Janis and I, not the cats) and gabbed for an hour or so. She is, as ever, brilliant and gorgeous, and resides in this cute apartment within spitting distance of UCSD and numerous malls, and the cats were gracious enough not to sit on my head as I slept. They waited until I was up, hence my comment up there somewhere. And now, having written this, I am going back to sleep, if only to give Cin and Jewel impetus to find another place to sprawl, lovely beasts that they are. G'night. |
