Olivia Fairy
The Olivia Fairy was a custom commission -- a woman I used to work with wanted a fairy doll that looked like her granddaughter Olivia. The challenge here was to make a doll that was 1) child-safe and 2) washable. After quite a few failed attempts, I think I got it right.
Here's the complete fairy -- body, hair and bodysuit are made from non-pill fleece, and skirt is made from fabric and lace trim. |
Here's a closeup of her face; instead of painting the features onto heavy duty iron-on interfacing, I designed her eyes, eyebrows and mouth in Photoshop, then printed them onto dark t-shirt transfer paper, cut them out and VERY CAREFULLY ironed them in place |
Here's a closeup of her costume -- i thought the matching choker was a nice touch. |

Rear shot of the wings. These are my first successful fabric wings -- the previous four unsuccessful pairs were consigned to the circular file. |
Closeup of the wings and detailing on the back. |
Side view -- she looks like she's about to fly, doesn't she? |
