Chartreuse Fairy

Salud!

This little guy, my first boy Booze Fairy, came about because my ex-boss saw my Absinthe Fairy and asked if I could make him a Chartreuse Fairy (apparently he has a long and colorful relationship with Chartreuse. Fun times...).

Since Chartreuse is made by the Carthusian Monks in France, I decided to give him a Carthusian monk's habit and tonsure, and chartreuse green wings. Yes, I'm going to Hell...

The Chartreuse Fairy (or as I like to call him, Frère Phillipe) is dressed in a Carthusian monk's habit, with tonsure and chartreuse green wings, and is holding a glass of Chartreuse.

Body, hair, monk's habit and chartreuse glass are made from non-pill fleece. Wings are made from fleece and heavy satin. Facial details are acrylic paint and heavy duty iron-on interfacing.

I have no idea how I did this, but he LOOKS French to me.

Closeup of the monk's habit, sandals and glass. The habit matches the Carthusian habit, with a tunic, belt, and hooded tabard in white. The glass is the classic glass shape used for Chartreuse.

Rear shot -- yes, the habit comes with a hood. Luckily it fit right between the wings.

Green Chartreuse (110 proof or 55%) is a naturally green liqueur flavored with extracts from 132 plants with its coloring coming from chlorophyll. No wonder he's smiling.
