Absinthe Fairy
Laissez les bon temps roulez!
This little green beauty is the first in my line of Booze Fairies -- spunky little plushie fairy dolls who anthropomorphize (if that term can be applied to dolls) various liquors. I'm hoping to have enough made by July so that I can open up an Etsy shop and start selling them ($35 seems reasonable, seeing as they're all handmade and artisan-designed. I can call myself an artisan, right?).
The Absinthe Fairy plushie was made specially for my friend Jerry who cohosts an absinthe-themed podcast called Slow Death in the Afternoon Podcast -- give it a listen!
This Absinthe Fairy comes with cute little green bodysuit, sparkly tulle tutu, green shimmery wings, ponytail, beauty mark and -- most importantly -- absinthe glass with the precious green liquid in it. Body, hair, bodysuit and absinthe glass are made from non-pill fleece. Wings are made from acetate film, mesh fabric and metallic fabric paint. Facial details are acrylic paint and heavy duty iron-on interfacing. Ribbon trim is from Hancock's. |
![]() I deliberately designed her bodysuit to look a little like an old-fashioned bustier -- just a nod to the working girls of New Orleans. |
Rear-view shot of the wings and ponytail. The wings are made of acetate -- I used spray adhesive and laid gold-spattered lime green mesh fabric over them, then did the detailing with puffy gold fabric paint. I also think the bow is really damn cute. |
I thought that she should be winking. She's flirty and fun that way. And the beauty mark on her lip is just SO New Orleans. |
Standing, she's about 8.5 inches tall |
