Waffle Socks
I blame Janis for this, myself -- I was innocent of knitting with more than two needles for the longest time. She's the one who kept posting pictures of all the cool socks she knitted, and finally I had to try it for myself. Pusher.
Anyway, this is my first pair of socks, 3/5 completed or so. I'd originally knitted one sock in plain stockinette, and then I went to A-Kon, where one of the concom showed me a pair of socks she was making in what she called a waffle pattern.
That was all it took. I came home, unravelled my entire sock and started over from scratch, using the insanely easy waffle pattern:
Round 1-2: K2, P2 to end of round.
Round 3-4: K to end of round.
Simplement, non? I've worn the completed one off and on while working with the mate, and I have to say that this is going to be one warm, soft pair of socks. You can't see it very well in the picture, but the yarn is sport-weight purple with strands of electric blue and magenta in it, so it catches the light quite prettily.
Now I just have to wait for cold weather in Dallas. Which means I'll be wearing these around December or so. Oh, well -- gives me a chance to knit another pair in that nice electric blue sport yarn I found. . .
