Striped Socks
I
have a ball of wonderful electric blue sport yarn. I have
a ball of equally gorgeous tweed sport yarn. Both of them
are perfect for knitting socks.
Have I used them yet? Of course not, because I proceeded to go into Hobby Lobby, look for something completely different, and walk out with two skeins of Bernat Hot Sox sport yarn.
I blame the label, myself -- it came with a pattern for making striped socks, and something about having a pair of red and blue-striped socks just appealed to the Pippi Longstocking in me. These were started the week before Torcon, so I spent a goodly portion of the con sitting in panels, parties and the hotel of the Royal York knitting away and people-watching. Had quite a few good conversations as a result of people coming up to see what I was making with four double-pointed knitting needles, too.
Of course, just as I was getting close to the heel flap I lost the pattern, because I'm an idiot. Luckily I'd already made my waffle socks, and by that point we were heading home anyway, so I waited until I got back to check the generic pattern and finish them according to that. They turned out nicely, in any case, so I'm a happy knitter.
And I have to say that these socks are soooooo soft. It's still too warm to wear them on a regular basis, but once November rolls around I should be able to wear them without broiling my feet.
