The Quilt Shoppe
With a terminal 'e' that indicates Quaintness(TM). Still a work in progress, as you can see -- I need to paint the roof, finish off the stairs and do the gable ornaments for the other three gables. All in all, however, I'm really pleased with this house, especially as it's the first I ever electrified (and they all work and the house hasn't blown up yet -- whee!).
Once the outside is done, I get to really start on the inside -- I still need to put up the wainscotting downstairs, finish all the trim, install a set of stairs, install some sort of flooring upstairs (carpet, I think) , install some sort of window treatments and create uplighting sconces for the gables (I can't find anything I like commercially, so I'll make my own with quartered pingpong balls and install plain bulbs).
Once the decoration is done, I can start building all the shelves, counters and other implements for the store. This is going to be a work in progess for some time as I collect appropriately scaled fabric scrabs for the shop and stuff for the atelier upstairs. I'm leaning towards making my own dolls for this house -- I have a very specific image in my mind about what I want as the owner and shoppers, and I haven't worked with Fimo for years. Might as well go back to it while I have a chance, hey? |
