Quills:
A Writer's Coffeeshop
I got the idea to do this after visiting
Seattle and picking up the full set of Writer Action Figures
(Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Charles
Dickens, and Oscar Wilde) from the Archie McPhee store. When
I got home, I had to figure out how to display them, and
realized that they were almost perfectly foot to the inch
scale. And voila, "Quills: A Writer's Coffeeshop" was
born.

A full shot
of the double roombox. I still need to add drinks and
food selections to the chalkboard, and I want to install
some bookshelves on the various walls, but it's looking
good so far. |

"Could
I get extra clotted cream on my scone, please?"
Over Jane's shoulder, William Shakespeare is considering
the cake case and a rather nice carrot cake. |

Edgar Allan
Poe, Charles Dickens and Oscar Wilde in the main seating
area. One of these days I'll make a purple leather
wing chair with a reading lamp for this section, as well.

Edgar Allan
Poe perusing the Chicago Tribune. Little does he know
that he'll soon be temporarily transported to a stage
and his new career as a stand-in... |

The newspaper
stand and the statue of the Venus de Milo. I bought
Venus on a trip to Nashville many years ago -- I wound
up going to the reduced-size version of the Parthenon
there, and got a kick out of the VdM statues in the
gift shop, so one came home with me. In honor of Eddy,
I need to find a miniature bust of Pallas Athena and
put that over the door. |
