Flower Power Chemo Cap
When a friend of mine found out that her housemate had cancer and would be going through chemo, she reached out to all her crafty buddies and asked us to design and make funky, pretty chemo caps.
Flower Power is one of my two donations to the cause -- it's based on a picture of a crocheted wedding cake decorated with flowers in all shades of purple. I really liked the combination of the cream "cake", the purple flowers and the hunter green leaves, and the roommate was also very fond of the color combo, so I lifted the concept for this cap.
The cap itself is a simple crocheted skullcap with a scalloped lace edge, topped with a cluster of three flowers and leaves. I made sure that I used a very soft, washable yarn for maximum comfort, and the recipient loved the color combination and warmth.
And yes, I know that's a really whack-looking mannequin. I have no idea where my husband got it, but it's what was in the house.
